BEING LATE

One of the scourges common to businesses and friendships is that of people being late. It's not only disrespectful it's bad in every way possible as it lets others down and stops the smooth flow of life itself. If a cog in a watch no matter how big or small stops then it all stops. Similarly if others place a responsibility upon you as an individual then you either uphold it or be forever viewed as one who can't / won't uphold their part of the bargain. And before those who are late perpetually start to wriggle with annoyance 'blame culture' doesn't hold water either. Yes, there are at times mitigating circumstances where even the most die hard and studious person who always arrives early arrives late one day, but the circumstances pertaining to their enforced late arrival can be counted on one hand and are usually very exceptional. We all know of people who just can't keep to time, perpetually late or last minute or whatever besets or befalls them they just have a list of ready made excuses as to why they "had to do this" or "cut it so fine" as not to allow any safe margin whatsoever so pro-occupied with themselves and their thoughts that what is around is either secondary or less important.

The crucial matter for lateness is not traffic, accidents, weather, invasions from Mars and Venues, it's not even the alarm clock not going off for those that deem they need to be there get there, those that have to be there for whatever reason place secondary importance again on the delivery of themselves as it's a chore more than responsibility.  If one is late for work phoning from the "cell phone / mobile phone" doesn't make it all right, it may show a degree of courtesy should one be able to advise of late arrival but it doesn't admonish the responsibility factor nor does it do anything else - you are late - full stop. There is always a cause for lateness over and above circumstances en-route that one cannot help, illness, bereavement, children, etc, but if children are an on-going common cause that's not acceptable as the world doesn't revolve around your problems and it needs resolution.

The causes of lateness are usually of a psychological nature even if it's perpetually cutting it all too fine and not allowing for delays en-route. Are you happy with your work, or are you happy with the destination that you have an appointment with, even if it's the dentist or a hospital appointment, or an interview or a court appearance or whatever it may be. As a member of the human race you have a responsibility not only to yourselves but those around you too, and that has nothing to do with self concocted ego, arrogance and the 'what's in it for me' attitude for if any of these latter aspects creep into your thoughts you have a problem looming large. You ARE the problem. If you don't like where you work or dread work or dislike those who are at your work it speaks volumes about you and not your work. Understandably it's not always that easy to change jobs especially at certain times where the financial climate is weak and jobs are scarce, but if you respect your income no matter what it is then you should uphold who you are otherwise by default you make yourself worthless and that has very bad connotations that will eventually ostracise you by your own volition from many aspects of life.

Blame culture, lax attitudes, lack of self respect, negative emotions at the forefront of your mind, small mindedness, pre-occupation with yourself, lack of respect for others, lack of purpose, insularity of mind, lack of focus, lack of priorities, etc are all contributory factors as to lateness especially those who are perpetually late. Lazy environments, i.e.people you work or live within who share the same social banal culture and talk about lateness as a topic, which exists and share their lame excuses and think it's clever. Late arrival usually starts with an apology, think about it, starting anything with an apology isn't good it puts you under par before anything has started and it usually lowers concentration often resulting in a lower performance and hurried thoughts which causes mistakes and lack of concentration. In some areas the smallest of mistakes can cause death or mayhem, just because perhaps your position in life isn't so critical it gives you no leeway to take matters into your own hand. You are paid for what you do not what you don't do.

SPIRITUAL OSMOSIS

It appears today that more and more people are calling themselves "spiritual" in the wake of "man made religions", Islam getting out of hand and so very unstable, and others not delivering the goods. We don't see any benefits from any of the Gods that these people worship in any way because the basic credential for any believer is for them to believe and they don't. They base their belief on rhetoric and parrot fashion learning and of course fear, rules and regulations that hold back as opposed to encourage. So many people of these religions are full of anger and hatred, the conduit to God is through love and love alone, and evil masking love is like a wolf in sheep's clothing, it produces unrest and more devastation and evil. It is not good enough to "praise God" when things go well and when say "it must be a lesson" when it doesn't, because that's not true and it's make believe, brought about by failure and deceitful preachers who have no more contact with God than a Camel turd. Everyone who believes has contact, those that don't believe don't, you make your choices based upon whatever you feel "floats your boat" but in the end times if you are wrong you're nothing.

We then get the "New Age mob" those that talk about "nice things" but are all screwed up and look perpetually ill. Often seen hovering around health food stores and meetings of the pathetic and lost seeking more stories and information to enhance their journey into weirdness. Lastly, there are those who call themselves "Spiritual" (whatever they think that means) because they pretend not to believe in God (but they do a bit) preferring to believe in some supreme force or energy and they call that the Universe. They often come out with "if you put goodness into the Universe it will pay you back kindly" - where on earth that came from who knows, but then it says a lot about them too. Usually their attitude is whet and ineffectual, being on the fence no opinion one way or another and it i's a cop out between no I don't believe and "just in case" I do, a foot in both camps.

Spirituality is a state of mind, not just a set thought it is an actual state, very few actually have that state to apply their life by and thus the vast majority are just wandering around with a theoretical concept as opposed to something tangible that produces benefits. It fills 'that' box when it states Belief / Religion? Of course being "Spiritual" one must know the route to take, so many see a whimsy version of "Spirituality" as being good and kind and nice and believing in the "universe, etc, all of which is not incorrect. It is like believing in "Superman" sounds good, represents good, but doesn't exist. It is harmless to have 'spiritual' thoughts but it doesn't provide a purpose of merit, in real times of woe goes nowhere fast. In order to gain a "spiritual" access to life and what else it may hold, there must be something of a sincere nature to want it to happen otherwise one will like religion go through the motions talk endlessly about it and be no better off. A bit like having an  Mp3 player that just holds the information and no more.

Life for some, religion makes a world of difference both the parrot fashion brigade who are stoic and dumb as well as the open and true who can feel the access. The power of the mind is really incredible and when one has a belief of unlimited power then the road is always open to endless possibilities without the "wow factor" interfering. Often what scientists seek to know rarely happens as they interject logic en-route which immediately stymies what they are seeking. It's strange that many atheists / agnostics get upset when talking about religion or God (any one) whereas it shouldn't be an interest, like people talking about sport to those that can't stand it. Whatever your beliefs they are yours and it is no one else's business after all if you don't' believe there is nothing to say and if you do believe it's between you and God no one else. Life is about love, God is about love, evil or the devil is about bad, so here we have a commonality at a common level. Evil and killing can't be an aspect of religion otherwise it becomes devil worship, and after all if your God or it's followers kill what is the devil supposed to do other than be pleased that he has more workers afoot?

THE HIGHER SELF

There's a lot spoken about "The Higher Self" and indeed there are endless books on the subject and a whole host of videos on YouTube too to keep you occupied for the next twenty years. Much of it is all the same stuff regurgitated with each authors' own slant or interpretation and at times it seems like it's re-inventing the wheel yet again. Whether most of it is true or not one rarely gets to know if as many claim it is or does what it is supposed to do why isn't it more universally available and helping people in life as opposed to where it tends to reside with the "New Age" lost and bewildered crowd. Also those perpetually seeking answers to life at the expense of not getting anywhere as their reality isn't tangible and is often paradoxically narrow and full of useless diatribe and associated ill health and lacking in laughter and dietary problems. The most commonly practised areas of the "Higher Self are done in Buddhism and have been for centuries, it's part of their doctrine. And whilst the Higher Self comes into other religions too it's mentioned as some tertiary area and not dealt with in any great depth the reason being that the religious leaders in the main religions are in themselves far from Spiritual and their higher self is more akin to walking upstairs as opposed to raising their minds.

The dictionary definition is as follows:- Higher self is a new age term associated with multiple belief systems, but its basic premise describes an eternal, omnipotent, conscious, and intelligent being, who is one's real self. Blavatsky formally defined the higher self as "Atma the inseparable ray of the Universal and ONE SELF. It is the God above, more than within, us". Each and every individual has a Higher self.

Make of that as you will, many people talk about 'being spiritual' or accessing their 'higher self' quite easily but to be honest very few if ever challenged wouldn't have a clue as to proficiently describe it even if they had got the basic gist of it right. Having said that there still would be a great gap between knowing what it means, understanding what it means and literally following it through to enacting it. Accessing the Higher Self is supposedly a positive move in that it can give clarity and improve the quality of life and give more of a peaceful scenario to life and our purpose and our understanding. And as an adjunct improve our health too and certainly reduce stress, even the self induced hysterical exclusive type. The main problem which lets most people down is the mediation, it's difficult for the vast majority and to sit still for over 30 mins without looking at their cell phone, it is beyond life itself for many who suffer from 'cell phone shuffle'. Quick look, quick look, quick look, quick look on a repetitive basis even if it hasn't made any of the numerous pings and clings that say "you have mail". It's also getting over that initial "nothingness" where the mind races and thinks of everything under the sun and at this stage thwarts people who then believe that they can't meditate after 5 mins and give it all up. Although to access your higher self you really don't have to meditate even though it's the long established and usual route. Life isn't a "one size fits all" and what benefits one gets from anything is literally down to the 'self' not what others proclaim or what someone has written in a book, that's no validation.
At times one can read articles on "the Higher Self" and it at sounds all very nice but what benefit does or can it give you right now to improve your life. It improves the lives of those that give classes on it because you pay them, but what about yourself when you have other things on your mind like life and keeping body and soul together and work, and the home, and bills and whatever. And yes one must put all these into perspective and prioritise and not be flippant with what constitutes one's day or existence, and yes it's important to have good quality "chill out" time otherwise we get overload and then that's it, we vegetate in our minds and lose the cognisance of reality and enjoyment. Our emotions in life play a major part, something we have all experienced such as from tears of joy to tears of sorrow and the latter is no fun whatsoever, something which we have strong memories of even if many years ago. Our higher self has a lot to do with the use and placement of our emotions and how we see life and the usage of our verbiage and deeds towards both others and ourselves. It's both complex and simple at the same time, where many go wrong is that they literally don't think allowing emotions to take over then it's "show time" and out comes the self and ego and anger and jealousy and arrogance, and the rest and of course much of all this is linked to low self esteem, which is far far away from any higher self.

One thing the "higher self" will not do is give you a key to life, it won't give you any short cuts to a better future or increase your wealth (unless you write a book yourself or give classes), it won't get you more friends or makes others like you and it won't make you the star of your own show. It won't make you more attractive or successful and it won't give you a place of superiority in life either, in fact it won't do much at all especially at the material level. It will give you a better understanding of life if you are not arrogant enough to think you know it all already, it will possibly increase your health status, it will give you a peace that you maybe haven't enjoyed for a long time and it will give you a presence over life that you may not have experienced before either. Anything else is a bonus for you and what you get out of it as there are NO set benefits and some advance amazingly whilst other plod on, but all should increase an enjoyment to some degree. Whatever you do life should be treasured and not from an angry perspective as that will forever set you aside from really getting the best out of life and attracting that which you don't want nor need.

SPIRITUALITY - IN A NUTSHELL

It's strange what people say about "spirituality" they have their own potted views and thoughts on it yet very few indeed know what it's all about. If you ask someone straight off, "What's Spirituality"? 99% of replies would start with "errrr" instantly trawling their minds for an explanation or something smart to say. And even after some time don't come up with a succinct answer it's usually some kind of waffle even if they get the gist of it right. It's really not however that important that one knows what "spirituality" is all about as it's not going to further your cause in life, but at the same time if one is going to use the word to describe some aspect of life you feel has a degree of importance then one should at least know what it really does infer and that one is on the right lines. The following is a relatively comprehensive dictionary explanation of "Spirituality".

"Spirituality can refer to an ultimate or immaterial reality an inner path enabling a person to discover
the essence of their being; or the “deepest values and meanings by which people live Spiritual practices, including meditation, prayer and contemplation, are intended to develop an individuals inner life; such practices often lead to an experience of connectedness with a larger reality, yielding a more comprehensive self; with other individuals or the human community; with nature or the cosmos; or with the divine realm. Spirituality is often experienced as a source of inspiration or orientation in life. It can encompass belief in immaterial realities or experiences of the immanent or transcendent nature of the world".

Whilst the above may resonate with many people the bottom line with it all is that they "think" spirituality but literally do nothing whatsoever to be spiritual, it just sounds good to mention and an applaudable state to be in. People even talk in soft "spiritual tones" talking about the Universe and Mother Earth and psychic enchantments, they wax lyrical about incantations and a whole load of stuff of past mystical cultures which were so good they've all vanished, and yet these self same so called 'spiritual' people always seem ill and lost in life, never really connecting with anything and are often lonely. It's almost as if many have turned to a "spiritual" route (whatever that is) as a last resort to find a missing piece or fill that eternal void within the pit of their stomach. Whilst there are endless books written on religion, the only books written on "spirituality" and "laws of spirituality" and anything else in the genre are written by current day authors and delving into their past doesn't really bring up the true goods of credibility. And if being on a "spiritual" pathway was that good why aren't millions flocking in sincerity to join and make the world a better place because they aren't. The trouble with "spirituality" is that it's anything you want it to be, it's a great cop out for most people to have the "best of both worlds" do as you want yet when needed spout the rhetoric of the next best thing to God. It's all sad and debased and pathetic really, in fact the irony is that most so called "spiritual" people need more help with their own life stability than those that don't go anywhere near it. People who tend to wax lyrical about "spiritual" stuff are often not the most stable, creative nor fun to be with and many lack any degree of humour, all the stuff than one needs to commune ably with others and life.

Mental health is the biggest problem within the Western World, fortunately it's not the clinical variety but that which has been brought about by the self, it's self inflicted, and the plethora of coaches and psycho-babblers apart from enjoying a good living are really not much better themselves, in fact many are seeking therapy also which is evident from the way they talk and their facial or tonal expressions - (is nothing scared)! We get fat if we over eat, (no one gets fat on fresh air - no excuses), if we feed our minds detritus we get the residual rubbish that's subliminally left, and then we start to be part of the rubbish we have had as a constant diet. Like cholesterol if not treated or dietary controlled it builds up on our arteries, similarly mental rubbish also builds up until at some point we tend to lose the plot, often it's almost too late when that realisation takes place. But back to "spirituality" (it's all linked) if we feign being spiritual because we think it's good, we fool ourselves and indeed let ourselves down. The biggest value we can ever have that keeps us under the best control against everything is "love" for that's the largest common bond on planet earth - and I've been around this planet dozens of times and seen dozens and dozens of cultures and it works in every one. Without love we become drones, with love we become humans, there is a big difference and that's life itself, be a part of it and not dwell on being an alien in your own world (even if you think it sounds good and gives you an instant self created credential).

There are "spiritual" groups all over the place and predominantly filled by single people (usually 30+) or "older couples" all with time on their hands and all seeking "words of wisdom" as if there are "gurus" who hold the key to life and will impart such to them and then "all will be well". There are gurus but not at these meetings, and "no" all will not be well, you have to put something into the equation too, which you are not at the moment hence your own plight. Even more ironic is the "spiritual cloud" which people almost always hide behind and that's the fact that they are unhappy, unfulfilled and need purpose, and their erroneous belief that in wading down the spiritual route it will give them all that is missing in an instant, again it just goes to show how wrong one can be or misinformed. One "becomes" spiritual in the way of thought and conduct, then by default one is automatically enrolled in to the "spiritual pathway". Like everything in life there is an "entrance fee" whatever that is, it's not financial at all it's a deep inner credential and honest and sincere thought with dedication, not the fastidious dedication that leads to dull boring people and fanatics but an overall concept of understanding. Communing with others and life is a good start, if some others don't get on with you fine, just do your bit and it will take shape.
